Thank You to Our Supporters

Johnny

We have been overwhelmed by your kindness, generosity and constant support, from the day we decided to create a scholarship fund to remember Johnny.  What started out of donations, from friends and family, became “Hoop It Up”, an annual fundraising event at the Julia R. Masterman School, which later evolved into our annual “Night at the Phillies” fundraiser.

Johnny was a big Phillies fan, and we can still remember our days together at the Vet and then the opening of the Citizens Bank Ball Park. Our goal is to remember Johnny through this scholarship fund, and raise sufficient funds for the scholarship, by having an annual gathering of friends and family at a Phillies game. That way, we can continue to award a $5,000 scholarship to a deserving Masterman senior each year and honor Johnny’s memory, by celebrating his life, doing something he truly loved.

This renovated website is just our small way of saying “Thank You” for all you have done. We also hope this website will provide informative scholarship fund information.

Please know that you have made a big difference in our lives and the lives of the graduating Masterman students who receive the John H. Smyth Scholarships.

Warmest regards,

Vickie, John and Julian

Note from Vickie, John and Julian (June 2005)

To Our Dear Family and Friends,

Our beloved son, Johnny, will forever be in our hearts. At this most difficult time, your tremendous outpouring of love and kindness has helped diminish our pain. There are no words to adequately express our thanks for your friendship and moral support that have given us hope to go on with life. It is because of you that Johnny’s life, although brief, was filled with happiness, love and joy that others only hope to achieve in a lifetime.

With our most sincere thanks to all,

Vickie, John and Julian
